Story
Growing up in Whalley, BC, as a child of a resilient single mom, life presented its challenges. Starting martial arts at a young age, I faced financial constraints as my mom struggled to afford the necessary uniform for me. Despite the challenges, my passion persevered, setting the foundation for my journey in BJJ. Relocating to Mission, BC, during adolescence, I found myself on a dark path, surrounded by negative influences.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu became my salvation, channeling my aggression into discipline and self-confidence. It offered a positive outlet, shielding me from the troubles my peers faced.
Beginning
I met my wife on the mats in 2011. We have built a beautiful life together; 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a whole lot of welcomed chaos.
Our brand was born out of my love for Jiu Jitsu, Leah's aesthetic eye, and our mutual passion for helping others. We found an opportunity to bring my story full circle.
Royal Roll is inspired by the West Coast, where the forest meets the sea. Our family loves the outdoors, making it a meaningful connection for our branding. We are grateful to live and play on the unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish people.
Why
As a husband, father, and a successful member of law enforcement, I am passionate about utilizing Royal Roll Thread Co. to give back. As such, some of the proceeds from every sale will support martial arts memberships for at-risk youth in Surrey, BC. Surrey Youth Hubs is an incredible organization we are partnering with to make this happen. Going back to my hometown and providing kids with the same transformative opportunities that I found in this sport is important to us. Our goal is to inspire troubled youth and redirect their lives, just like Jiu Jitsu did for me.
-
Affordable Quality
We noticed a lack of accessibility on the market. A kimono can run athletes well over $200. Our vision was to create a well-made gi that didn't break the bank.
-
Aesthetic
While we love a cool dragon moment, we wanted more. Something simple and understated, but still eye catching. Our designs aim to be unique and attractive.

A Gi that Gives Back
Finally a purchase that you can feel good about. A portion from each sale will provide martial arts memberships for at-risk youth in BC. We want to help change the lives of others.
